The booting process hangs at 'Waiting for root file system' and drops into an initramfs shell (BusyBox) saying
'Gave up waiting for root device.'
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/38068b8e-13c5-4756-844a-a9aba2436269 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
Here I type 'exit' and booting continues normally.
I attach /var/log/debug. |

Hi Tobais,
I assume /dev/disk/by-uuid/38068b8e-13c5-4756-844a-a9aba2436269 does indeed exist? Care to also attach your dmesg output after you boot? Can you also describe the hw you have more? Additionally, 2.6.27-7.14 is available. I suspect it won't make a difference, but it wouldn't hurt to verify. Also, I'm curious if you add the boot option "rootdelay=<some #>" if that helps avoid being dropped into the busybox? For example rootdelay=60 will pause 60seconds before attempting to mount the root filesystem. You may need to adjust that number to be higher or lower through trial and error. Thanks. |

Hi Tobias,
Glad to hear this seems to be resolved. I'll mark this "Fix Released" for now, but if this reappears feel free to reopen this by setting the status back to "New". Thanks. |
