Bug Description

I've updated my XPS M1330 to Intrepid, and now the system crashes on boot. This happens immediately after "Loading Hardware Drivers" in the boot process. The screen stays in text mode, but all the text characters become garbled and flickery and booting stops. Holding the power button is the only way to shut down.

The machine has Intel graphics and 3965 wireless.

This has happened with all of the 2.6.27-n kernels I've tried. Selecting the 2.6.24 kernel left over from Hardy boots successfully.

I accept that this is a bit of a lame bug report; I'd really appreciate hints as to how to be more informative.

I have an identical crash with 2.6.27. It doesn't happen with 2.6.26.

Usually it happens with the first (possibly second too) boot with 2.6.27. Then it boots fine. So this error appears on cold boots for me. 2.6.26 boots well in any situation though.

I have a Dell D630 with GM965, Intel 3945ABG wireless and X3100 graphics.
