Bug Description
I downloaded and installed the 2.6.27-1-generic package. (See bug 218700 for precisely what I did.)
If I chose a normal boot, it hung early in the boot process. If I chose the "recovery mode" (or whatever it's called), the boot worked fine. I tried the normal graphical boot again, and it hung again. I didn't find anything that looked like a dmesg log from the failed boots, although perhaps I wasn't looking correctly.
The dmesg from the successful recovery-mode boot is attached to bug 218700.
