Thanks for your bug report and for your contribution to ubuntu. In order to determine if this issue is usplash related, would you boot your computer with usplash disabled and then shutdown to see if you can reproduce the issue? To disable usplash for a single boot, you can follow these steps :

1.Press Esc during Grub boot delay to access the boot menu.
2.Select your actual Ubuntu boot line and press "e" to edit it.
3.Select the "kernel" line and press "e" to edit it.
4.At the end of the line, remove "splash" and "quiet" and press "enter".
5.Type "b" to boot the custom boot line.

I follow you steps and the system freeze on this:
.......
Mounting root file system.
Running /scripts/local-top..
Waiting for root file system
[ 3.703543] usbcore: Registered new interface driver usbfs
[ 3.703636] usbcore: Registered new interface driver hub
[ 3.703776] usbcore: Registered new interface driver usb
[ 3.704086] No dock devices found
[ 3.704580] SCSI subSystem initalized.
...
And freeze until I press the space key, then show:
....
....
Running /scripts/local-premount
Waiting for Resume devices
.........
And take several minutes until I press the space key and show:
Runing /scripts/init-button

and the history is the same.

Tk and tell me if you need more information.

Hi vnieto,

Can you also comment if this issue existed with the 2.6.26 kernel previously available for Intrepid? Or does this only occur with the 2.6.27 kernel? Thanks.

I only try with 2.6.27, I don't try with another versión. I start test with beta 4.
