Downloaded 2.6.24-20-generic kernel updates today (Pre-released updates-Hardy proposed). After these packages were installed, I restarted and on boot the computer hangs after showing "Starting up..." in the upper left corner of the monitor. Others report the same problem in the Ubuntu forums.

Looks like I missed an upstream commit that affects a certain class of CPUs, e.g., those missing the RDTSC instruction. Please try the set of kernel packages at http://ppa.launchpad.net/timg-tpi/ubuntu. Alternatively, you can wait a couple of days and it will sort itself out after I upload another kernel. |
