Bug Description

I have Askey CPH03x TV Capturer.
When I load bttv module with "card=59" option which is proper for this tv card, I can watch tv with sound but my remote control doesnt work. There is no ir event in /proc/bus/input/device .
When bttv module is loaded with "card=137" option remote control works very well.

$ cat /proc/bus/input/devices
.......
........
: Bus=0001 Vendor=109e Product=0350 Version=0001
N: Name="bttv IR (card=137)"
P: Phys=pci-0000:00:0d.0/ir0
S: Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:0d.0/input/input144
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=kbd event6
B: EV=100003
B: KEY=2c0814 100004 0 0 0 4 2008000 2090 2001 1e0000 4400 0 ffc

Unfortunately there is no sound.

I fixed my problem. I've changed two lines in source of bttv modules. Now I have recompiled bttv module and everything works good.
Best Regards!

i can't confirm because I don't own that card but the patch looks very logical.
I have created a diff for the current ubuntu kernel version.

@grymberg More than a few kernel versions have passed since you first patched your driver. We are now at 2.6.28 in Jaunty and since your patch got lost upstream we would like to re-submit but with a current kernel. If you still have the system and video card and are willing to help us by testing and verifying a new driver, we would create an updated linux-image package with your patch (re)applied for you to test. Please let us know so we can proceed.

To test the new kernel, you would have to upgrade your system to Jaunty (9.04) and apply package updates for the test to be valid.

thank you for your time.

the patch was pushed to the kernel buzilla but not to the maintainer which is the proper channel.

The device is not in current (Karmic) kernels but without hardware, it cannot be pushed upstream properly.

This bug report is being closed because we received no response to the previous inquiry for information. Please reopen if this is still an issue in the current Ubuntu release, Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download. If the issue remains in Jaunty, please test the latest upstream kernel build - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .
