Bug Description
Hardy crashes during boot with the following display:
udevd-event[1394]: run_program: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit
BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
(initramfs)_
and there it dies no keyboard responce and must do a hard reset to recover.
Tried this with both liveCD and by loading ubuntu 7.10 and upgrading to Hardy.

This seems to be the same as bug #225749.
I had exactly the same problem, and resolved it by downloading a more up to date version of Hardy from http:// cdimages. ubuntu. com/hardy/ daily-live/ current/ which seems to work perfectly out of the box. (The 20080620.1 build worked for me.)
