This also affects hibernation. I have two computers (a desktop and a HP nx8220 notebook) and suspend and hibernation is broken on both of them (screen stay blank after waking up). When booting with 2.6.24-16 everything works fine.

I can confirm. Up until the -17 kernel my System 76 Darter 1 (Asus Z35Fm) was working fine for suspend and hibernate. The -17 kernel nerfed both of them.

Confirmed, -17 fails for both suspend and hiberation, but -16 works just fine.

This is happening for me on two out of three computers. For some reason it doesn't affect an old laptop. The other two will not resume from either suspend or hibernate. The 2.6.24-18-generic kernel has not fixed this. If I revert to the 2.6.24-16-generic kernel things work fine.

I can also confirm on a Toshiba laptop. Latest updates (-17 and newer) break return from suspend. System suspends as usual, then when lid is lifted the drive powers up but LCD and keyboard does not respond.

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this bug to the new "linux" package. However, development has already began for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. It would be helpful if you could test the upcoming release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . If the issue still exists, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux" task from "Incomplete" to "New". We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Thanks!
