Problem seems to exist in 2.6.27 too. Does not detect USB hard disk, but detected mouse on bootup, both attached to the same USB extension port. Seems to be endemic to hard disks somehow, Speakers & Input devices are always detected on bootup but hard disks needs to be restarted.
