It unfortunately appears that this bug is not yet resolved. The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is scheduled for release today. It will appear at the following when available: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 . It contains the the actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test this upcoming release via a LiveCD and verify if the issue still exists. If so, please include the appropriate debugging information as outlined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems . Thanks in advance.

Hi nglnx,

sorry for the late reply as I was out of town.
Checked all over the Ubuntu website as well as the net , couldn't get a live cd image.
Since the relese is still in alpha, I am not willing to install. Can you give me some link to the Live CD?

Thanks
Ajay

As can be seen in the link provided above (http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2), Alpha 2 does not include LiveCD images, only images with the Ubuntu alternate installer. Intrepid LiveCDs will be made available with Alpha 3.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

It seems to be that there is a solution for this problem on http://gentoo-wiki.com/Acer_Aspire_5920G#Sound, but I cannot try this in the next weeks because Im currently using another PC, maybe others can test it?

Installed 2.6.27.2 on my Hardy and the headset jack is working perfect now.
But now the problem is with the Nvidia driver. After upgarding to 2.6.27.2 resolution got stuck at 800*600. Using "displayconfig-gtk" I got it
back to normal but for last 24 hr. I am struggling with Nvidia driver which doesn't work at all any more. Tried all the available one oldest to the latest 177.* but in vain ? Switching back to the 2.6.24.21 is also not helping. Any solution for that or only a clean re-install??

Thanks for the update. I'm going to mark this "Fix Released" for Intrepid. If you notice any regressions regarding this bug prior to Intrepid's final release, please reopen this by setting the status back to "New".

Regarding the Nvidia issues you are experiencing, care to open a new report? Thanks.
