[hardy][regression] System doesn't wake up after suspend to disk with kernel 2.6.24-17.31

Bug Description

After installing Kernel 2.6.24-17.31 from Hardy proposed my system doesn't wake up any more if I do suspend to disk. If usplash is enabled, the splash screen stays just there in a frozen state forever; I'm gonna attach a screenshot from my digital camera of how it looks like if I disable the splash while resuming.

Since suspend to disk workes fine with Kernel 2.6.24-16.30, this looks like a regression to me.

Kind regards,
Jan

It's possible this is another bug, but I'd rather put a comment here rather than spamming launchpad. In my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8600c), with kernel 2.6.24-17.31, suspend to RAM is no longer reliably working. The hardy default 24-16 works extremely fine, though. I will toy a bit with hibernation and -17 and put them here.

I`ve got the same problem. After upgrade no suspen/hibernate. It`s really sad :|

I have the same problem with -17, whereas everything worked just fine in -16. Using Kubuntu; -17 should _not_ be promoted to regular updates.

I've got this issue on my HP Pavilion dv6000 as well. Going back to the -16 kernel works. With the -17 kernel resuming never works and I have to do a hard reboot.

For those reporting the failure of returning from suspend to RAM with 2.6.24-17, the main bug for this appears to be bug 226279. Please go there.

Other comments for this bug should be as the title - "suspend to disk" (more commonly referred to as hibernate).
