Man, I totally missed the error in dmesg from 8139too (was expecting it to come
after the 8139cp driver messages).

Here's the relevant parts:

8139too Fast Ethernet driver 0.9.27

Can you send me the output of lspci -vvn? Also try booting with the acpi=off option.
