2008-10-11 07:59:02 Antoine Pairet description The speakers work, but the headphones do not, on Gutsy and Hardy beta. Plugging in a headphone just mutes the speakers. On Gutsy, I've tried quite a few things to get it working, including installing oss and pulseaudio, to no avail. I remember the best I got to getting the headphones working was while running osstest: Sound subsystem and version: OSS 4.0 (b1011/200712200355) (0x00040003) Platform: Linux/i686 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 07:42:25 UTC 2008 *** Scanning sound adapter #-1 *** /dev/oss/hdaudio0/pcm0 (audio engine 0): High Definition Audio pcm - Performing audio playback test... <left> OK <right> OK <stereo> OK <measured srate 47967.00 Hz (-0.07%)> /dev/oss/hdaudio0/pcm1 (audio engine 1): High Definition Audio front - Performing audio playback test... <left> OK <right> OK <stereo> OK <measured srate 47960.00 Hz (-0.08%)> /dev/oss/hdaudio0/pcm2 (audio engine 2): High Definition Audio side - Performing audio playback test... <left> OK <right> OK <stereo> OK <measured srate 47960.00 Hz (-0.08%)> /dev/oss/hdaudio0/pcmin0 (audio engine 3): High Definition Audio rec - Skipping input only device *** All tests completed OK *** In the first test, only the speakers play. In the second test, only the headphones play! In the third test, nothing plays. I would have tried osstest in Hardy beta except osstest isn't installed.
