Bug Description

recently, my school sent me an Asus expertbook b1 b1402cg. I wanted to have either Kali or Ubuntu installed onto it as well for a dual boot. First, I tried installing Ubuntu 24.04 with the same .iso I used to install it onto my desktop, and when I did, I noticed the laptops keyboard wasnt working. If I plug in a usb keyboard, it seems to work fine. So, I downloaded the newest Kali .iso and tried that. again, nothing. So I dont know what to do at this point because I dont want to carry a usb keyboard around with me when i use my laptop. Any idea on what I can do? Thanks. - Jon

Does the keyboard work during the installation?
Can you please provide more details on how the laptop keyboard doesn't work? Is there any response when you type at the login screen? Or the keyboard only doesn't work in some applications?

I assume you can't type with your laptop keyboard, so please run it with your usb keyboard.

the keyboard turns off as soon as the kali screen loads up where it asks to select from live, live failsafe, install, advanced options. If i plug in a USB keyboard, the USB keyboard works fine. It's the laptops keyboard that dosent work at all. The laptops mouse works fine as well. no issues there.

Could you try to append "pnpacpi=off" grub kernel cmdline?
Also upload the dmesg.

Could you install Ubuntu iso to your laptop?

Then try to install kernel of amd64 version:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/mainline/v6.10-rc4/

And check if it's reproduced on v6.10-rc4,
if it does, please file an upstream bug:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/
