Bug Description

I'm not able to get sound from a sound blaster live, that should use the driver emu10k1.

The driver is not loaded, so the card is not available, but it is show with lspci.

When trying to manually load the driver:
tiagoboldt@Desktop:~$ sudo modprobe snd-emu10k1
[sudo] password for tiagoboldt:
FATAL: Error inserting snd_emu10k1 (/lib/modules/2.6.24-12-generic/ubuntu/sound/alsa-driver/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1.ko): Invalid argument
FATAL: Error running install command for snd_emu10k1

Also, during the boot process I get a message:
tiagoboldt@Desktop:~$ dmesg | grep emu10k1
[ 40.215639] snd_emu10k1: `' invalid for parameter `index'

This is bad indeed, since sound is really needed in that computer.

Help would be appreciated.

This bug was reported a while ago and hasn't had any recent activity. Is this still an issue with the most recent Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release? You should be able to test using a LiveCD. Please let us know your results. For now I'm going to retarget this bug to the actively developed linux kernel package. During the Intrepid development cycle the linux-ubuntu-modules package was merged with the linux kernel package. Thanks
