Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.24

Up to date Hardy, kernel 2.6.24-12-generic on i386.

After upgrading from 2.6.24-10-generic, the sound card is not shown in System > Prefs > Sound. It works perfectly with the older kernel; I have never had any other problems with this sound card.

Same here: after today's update (+restart) of Hardy Heron Alpha, the sound is gone. The upper bar shows a loudspeaker with some red symbol in it, saying

"The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured.

You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu."

After that, clicking on the symbol, I get "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found."

sander@ubuntu-804:~$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia
sander@ubuntu-804:~$

I've included dmesg.
