Bug Description

My computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad p-Series Gen 2 with Intel Core i9. I've tried updating my grub file as is suggested in Bugs #1970426, #1958191, and #1973676.

That is, I've tried

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.enable_dc=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=2"

And, I've tried cstate=4.

Thanks for the bug report.

Please try adding kernel parameter: i915.enable_psr=0

If that doesn't fix it then please attach a video showing the problem.

Hi Daniel
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't work either. I've attached a video.

If you select 'Ubuntu on Wayland' on the login screen, does the flickering still occur?

Heather Moon (heatheramoon) wrote :

I don't get that option. I do get 'Ubuntu on xorg' and the flickering still occurs when I select it. Also, the flickering starts as soon as the Ubuntu logo appears before login. I just noticed that as I was waiting to try your suggestion.

In that case please try selecting the 'Ubuntu' login option and then look at Settings > About to confirm that Wayland is being used. Does the flicker still occur there?
