i just quick and dirty install the kernel 5.11.0-20-generic to test, if this problem also accours. It doesn't. With the kernel 5.11.0-20-generic i can shutdown the system.

I have the same issue. The power management system also doesn't recognize my laptop's battery level on this kernel.

Experiencing the same issue, and (coincidently or not), I also use a Thinkpad X1 Yoga 1st. Also running kernel 5.15.0-35-generic.

Same Problem here.
Using 22.04.1 LTS with 5.15.0-47-generic on Acer Aspire E 17 Laptop, because I turned off plymouth I see the system hanging after displaying:

shutdown[1]: Rebooting
kvm: exiting hardware virtualization

ctrl+alt+SysReq+b works!
ctrl+alt+SysReq+o did not work!!!!

BTW: The same PC works correct under Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Another Remark: Even the Live System (started from USB-Stick) doesn't shutdown/reboot!

I had the issue on my Thinkpad T460p running Ubuntu 22.04. It was surely present during May. It got fixed with some system update later (June or July). The shutdown works properly on the machine now.

I'm also facing this issue with Ubuntu 22.04.1 running on a HP Z800 tower.

In my case, every time I ask for a shutdown, or reboot, windows manager dies but I can still see all windows contents, and even interact with applications (some of them), but not able to reboot from GNOME desktop.

I can however login remotely to my Desktop, and then do:

sudo poweroff

and it work correclty, but not from GNOME desktop.
