Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1953207/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Hello Paul

Thank you to clarify.

I wasn't even able to boot off of the installer DVD and start the
installer. I tried in safe mode and regular mode and let it try to boot for
3 hours and got an error message. And on the safe mode I got blurry screen.

Interestingly enough when I try to install 21.10 off of DVD the same thing
happened. In both modes. So the installer is still a little bit messed up.

I think there should be a third option that gives you a text only install
way of doing it. I know it's hard to make something that will work on
everyone's computer.

Have yourself a Merry Christmas

Steve

Hello Paul

I have a little bit of extra information to share with you that might point
you guys in the right direction.

I am part of a Facebook group of 70,000 people that are all using Ubuntu. I
found at least two people that had this issue with 21.10 and just
downgraded their kernel and then after that they could go and stand by and
wake it up.

With 22.04 I am stuck in a rut because when my screen goes blank on if I
walk away from my computer it does not wake up. Also the standby feature
doesn't work it doesn't wake up.

So I'm afraid of burning my screen so I do the proper shutdown

I just realized that I need to report a bug about the shutdown feature too
it does not work through the graphical interface but I can go to terminal
and do a shutdown there and it works fine.

On the information that *you* have provided I'm reassigning this issue to the Linux kernel.

Please provide any information that might be requested from you by the kernel bot otherwise this bug report will expire without any action being taken.

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. While running an Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline or third-party kernel) please enter the following command in a terminal window:

apport-collect 1953207

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.
