Bug Description

Upgrading from gutsy to hardy, the new kernel image fails to boot. After the 180 second delay, /scripts/local drops me to the busybox shell. If I modprobe sd_mod and sata_nv and then logout, startup proceeds normally.

Previous kernels (For one example, linux-image-2.6.22-14-386 version 2.6.22-14.47) do not have this issue.

Please let me know if there is any other info you would like, or if there's anything you want me to try out. For realtime debugging I'm toresbe on IRC.

Hi Tore,

Care to test the latest 2.6.24-10 version. Also curious if you have tried the -generic flavor rather than the -386 flavor which you seem to be using. Thanks.

I apologize for being (very!) late in replying - I seem to have forgotten to reply to you. Yes, this fixed the problem entirely, thank you very much.
