This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. While running an Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline or third-party kernel) please enter the following command in a terminal window:

apport-collect 1936573

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

There are loads of issue reports that complain about this with Logitech hardware.

^ This thread _claims_ a fix was put in but it has not been (running 5.13 kernel)

I have reported recently in the libratbag tool similar.

We should probably document a "mitigation/workaround" to this. Simply using the mouse spams the logs hard.

I tried adding
/etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf

:msg, contains, "Unexpected input report number" stop

but it doesn't work :(

For now

sudo modprobe -r hid_logitech_dj

and
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

# Logitech HID driver sucks for G602
# https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1936573/
# https://github.com/libratbag/libratbag/issues/832
blacklist hid_logitech_dj
