i done that is this is what i got

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/scd0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail or so
then i did dmesg | tail

~$ dmesg | tail
[ 2416.995874] Unable to identify CD-ROM format.

I then placed the disc back in vista works fine it is a udf disc

this is a bug but i do not think it is a linux fault but if it can be solved then well i will get rid of this vista system and run my laptop with linux currently i am using a different machine for my linux

I think it is just one of those issue's that cannot be fixed, there is lots people with disc's burnt in Vista that will not be read in Linux. What it seems is that when you burn a disc in vista using vista not third party software the disc it can only be read in a Windows Systems. Very sneaky thing from Microsoft but funny it is still burning as UDF but I think the UDF is Windows version or something ,
Come Linux get this fix !!!

I just ran into this issue myself...sort of embarrassing. The disc was burned on Vista, and reads fine in XP, Vista and Mac OS X. Ouch...any chance we can see this fix in Hardy?

I've verified that the disc I used was burnt as the default UDF version in Vista, UDF 2.01. The disc itself is a DVD+R.

It should definitely require no command-line work to mount common optical disks on Ubuntu.

Same problem.
UDF-fs: No fileset found

$ sudo mount -t udf -o ro /dev/scd0 /cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/scd0,

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try

If the start or tail of the ISO will help to resolve let me know then i can add it here.

I have solved the mystery and really it comes down to the version of UDF if you choose the default version with Vista it is not going to work . I choose the next one down and that seem to work.

This seems to contain two separate bugs:
(1) for the "no fileset found" problem, try this solution: http://ascending.wordpress.com/2008/06/14/howto-read-vista-burnt-udf-dvds-on-ubuntu-linux/
(2) for the "no partition found", I have no idea :(

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, this bug is a duplicate of bug 213696 and is being marked as such. Additionally, this bug is believed to be fixed with the kernel in Intrepd Ibex. Feel free to submit any future bugs you may find.

Maybe - but Intrepid ibex is so bug ridden itself - it isn't worth running the new kernel yet. We're stuck.
