inadvertently killed upgrade from fosa to gorilla. Result won't boot: "VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) ]--"

Recovered by booting into an older kernel and running

sudo update-initramfs -u -k 5.8.0-25-generic
sudo update-grub

There are still some initialization failures reported at boot but at least the 20.10 boot is successful.
