Bug Description

The kernel 4.15.0-96 is the last working one with my WiFi card. The same problem occurred with kernels larger than 5.3.0-28. My first thought of a hardware failure due to a low or empty BIOS battery was not confirmed. The laptop is a dual boot with Linux Mint 19.3 as first system and Win 8.1 as second. Win 8.1 did not show these errors. It is also not my first choice. The non-functioning kernels can't find my WLAN anymore, the neighbors can. Even re-entering the SSID and the key does not help. The WLAN is visible.

Hi, we need you to detail some more.

1. Do you mean Wi-Fi adapter still appears, but you fail to connect to existing WiFi networks that used to connect to? You mentioned the WLAN is still visible and you're able to enter WLAN SSID/passphrase.

2. Please attach system journal again against the failing kernel 4.15.0-96+ and 5.3.0-28+. We need to know what happen when you upgraded to new kernels. You may have no network access then, so you can run following commands to save logs and attach them later when rebooted back to 4.15.0-96:

     $ sudo journalctl -b 0 | tee journal.$(uname -r)

   This will create one journal.* file at your present working directory. So reboot to 4.15.0-96+ kernel, run the command once, and then reboot to 5.3.0-28+ again, and run that command again as well. Attach both files as attachments here please.

Hello, it is bewitched the small laptop runs with the kernel 5.3.0-51 as well as 4.15.0-99 + 101 so far without problems. I can not understand this. The problems were real and very annoying, so I looked for help at the community of LinuxMint. The community told me to use the 4.15 series kernels for the rather old device, because this was meant for LTS. Additionally I should uninstall the kernels of the 5 series. After that the laptop ran as usual. Without error messages we have to stop here. I installed the kernels and let them create the logs - but without errors. I do not know if the logs are still important. If necessary I can still post them. I thank you for the fast answer and help from your side.
