Hi Kano,

Thank you for your request. You might also want to add a little note about why you want this sort of thing done. I suspect the kernel team will not remove the pci ids from the legacy drivers. However, they may consider blacklisting them. I'll reassign to the kernel team for their consideration. Thanks.

In what package do you want to blacklist em? Also if you accidently install discover any blacklist entries are ignored which are in /etc/modprobe.d.

This causes my wireless PCMCIA card not to work.

Using the p54pci driver, I get:

0000:02:00.0 (prism54pci): cannot find firmware (isl3886)
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:02:00.0 disabled
prism54pci: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -2

(I note that the isl3886 firmware is present on my system, and prism54 finds and loads it correctly.) Once I load the prism54 module manually, everything works perfectly.

The card is a 3Com 3CRWE154G72 Office Connect Wireless LAN Adapter (rev 01).

lspci -nv:

02:00.0 0280: 10b7:6001 (rev 01)
 Subsystem: 10b7:6001
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 11
 Memory at 24000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1

I'm running Hardy i386. Kernel: Linux proteus 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
