Bug Description

Xubuntu 18.04 installed on a new Lenovo IdeaPad 330S; system is up to date (I run Software Updater pretty much daily).
lsb_release -rd tells me:
Description: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Release: 18.04

When the screen gets locked (either when I lock it or when the system locks it after a period of inactivity), there is no way for me to log back in. No matter what I do, no "enter password" box pops up. The screen just stays black and the only thing I can do is to shut the computer down by holding down the power button.

This happens regardless of whether an external monitor is connected.

My apologies if I didn't report this correctly or left out anything important; I am just an end user and not an expert. Please let me know if I need to provide any further information.

Does this happen to Ubuntu?

I'm not sure if I understand the question correctly. I am using Xubuntu 18.04, but I don't know which exact package is involved, if that is what you are asking.

Sorry for the belated response. I meant the default GNOME desktop. I was trying to figure out it's a bug in userspace or kernel space.

This time I apologise for taking so long to reply -- I hadn't noticed your response before.

I'm using Xubuntu, so it's the Xfce desktop environment.

If this doesn't happen to Gnome desktop, it's not a linux kernel bug then, and we'll need to triage the bug to xfce.
