Bug Description

After using the touchpad for a while, it suddenly believes that I'm doing a two-finger scroll, when I'm not. It makes the touchpad unusable : it's not possible to move the mouse anymore, vertical scrolling happens instead. I could not find an action that reliably gets me out of this mode (except reboot !).

My workaround for now is to disable two-finger scrolling in "Config / Devices / Mouse & Touchpad", and enable "Edge scrolling" instead.

I'm using Ubuntu 19.04 (Ubuntu 5.0.0-21.22-generic 5.0.15)

I should add that, when the mousepad has this funny behavior, the trackpoint (i.e., pointing stick) still works correctly.

Why does your laptop has both i2c and ps/2 touchpad/trackpoint?

So your touchpad and trackpoint are driven by ALP001F or AlpsPS/2?

Does this issue happen after S3?

I'm not sure what you are talking about ? i2c ? S3 ? Sorry.

I can understand that the problem may be due to having 2 drivers for the TouchPad. I'm not sure how they got there. The only driver I have updated is the NVIDIA one.
I have the same problem with the trial Ubuntu on USB. The PC is relatively new (a few weeks).

S3 means system suspend.

Can you also attach dmesg after the issue happens?

I did S3 by rotating the screen down towards the keyboard (--> screen goes black), then back up, and the bug appeared after a minute. Attached is dmesg.

If it _only_ happens after S3, then it can be this bug:
