Acer Chromebook [banon] display freezes

Bug Description

Freezes when connected to wifi. Running lsof -i and closing some of the processes results in black display, need to restart computer. i can use the computer for very short periods when connected to the internet, frequently the display freezes requiring restart.

Does the freeze only happen when connected to wifi?

I can see a couple of errors from the kernel graphics driver suggesting the display might freeze:

Please try logging into "Ubuntu on Wayland" and tell us if that helps.

Also, it looks like you have some custom firmware installed:

  dmi.bios.version: MrChromebox-4.9

I wonder if the problem occured before installing that.
