Please be careful to only report one problem per bug. I will make this bug just about the long boot time. If you want to discuss the other issue then please open another bug.

Your long boot time appears to be multiple problems in the kernel log (CurrentDmesg.txt). I can't quite put my finger on just one cause though.

Now reassigning this bug to the kernel.

summary: - boot time is too long and running HD videos starts flickering
+ boot time is too long
affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Does this issue happen on 16.04?

Hi @kaihengfeng,
no it didn't. It only started to appear once I upgraded my system from 16.04 to 18.04. However, I like to note that last night I changed by graphics from nvidia back to intel and that 'video flickering' issue seems to be resolved but the long boot time issue still persists.

Confirmed i had the same long boot times on multiple systems(with ssd's) that came from 18.04.0
tested the hwe kernel 4.18 but did not fix

only a fresh install 18.04.2 with kernel 4.18 .iso made the boot 4x faster
