Bug Description

I have a dell XPS14 (L421X). In releases 18.04 and lower the keyboard back light used to work. However in 18.10 and 19.04 it does not

The dell_laptop model is loaded.

No. I just tried again, as the kernel uas updated this morning.
For this model the max value is 2, and the min is 0.
I have tried all 3.

Please test latest mainline kernel:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.2-rc6/

If latest mainline kernel doesn't work then we need to do a kernel bisection.

I was not able to install the kernel you requested as this is my main machine.
However Ubuntu 19.10 has been released and I have upgraded to it (in-place upgrade) and the keyboard backlight does not work on this kernel (5.3) either
