Frequent (silent) USB disconnects with Dell TB16 dock

Bug Description

I see something similar (but different) to bug 1766076 on a Dell 5530:

- Using kernel 5.0.4 from UKUU (because current Ubuntu kernel suffers from other bugs that make this dock unusable)
- BIOS 1.6.0
- TB16 dock with a single monitor on the display port, providing power, using native enumeration setting in the BIOS
- Microsoft comfort curve keyboard, webcam, headset connected to dock USB ports
- Wired ethernet via the dock.

Keyboard stops responding frequently. There is no output in dmesg when this happens. If I later unplug the keyboard I see a disconnection message in dmesg and I can reconnect it to the same port. Sometimes it works for a day after this, other times it works for <60s.

Other devices disconnect too but the pattern is different. Much more likely to see the disconnect under heavy load, such as webcam/headset getting disconnected during a conference call.

I think the keyboard might want to use hid-microsoft. But before doing that, can you check if the TB16 has the latest firmware? You may need a Windows system to update the firmware.

Yes, will see if I can borrow a Windows laptop to do that. How would I switch to hid-microsoft?

Having this same issue on my Dell Latitude 7490 with latest BIOS as of May 2nd (1.9.3). TB16 firmware is also up-to-date. If there is any info I can get from my system let me know. I'm willing to share any logs.
