Bug Description
I have been a long-term Ubuntu user (since 10.04) and take pride in having fixed all problems on my own thanks to the excellent documentation, but this time I am utterly stumped and have run out of ideas (hence this report).
With my headphones jacked in, the line out and headphones output options keep switching automatically, resulting in crackling (and broken audio). I have tried many solutions I found online but none of the suggested fixes work. I am attaching a video of what I see (note that this happens automatically, I don't click anywhere)
This is not a hardware issue (the headphones work fine on another machine running Ubuntu 16.04, and as far as I'm aware this problem only appeared after I upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04).
