Big surprise! It works. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's wrong with ubuntu, I never got wireless work in ubuntu gutsy and hardy amd64 in last one month.

It seems the wireless can not receive packet.

lsusb will freeze terminal if usb wireless pluged,it seems can't get usb-id

Hope this report would help to fix the bug soon.

BTW,after connect to internat, APT upgrade, switch back to origin kernel, nothing change, wireless still won't work.

I found this in the 2.6.24 changelog, don't know if it's related:

[NET]: Factor out __dev_alloc_name from dev_alloc_name

When forcibly changing the network namespace of a device
I need something that can generate a name for the device
in the new namespace without overwriting the old name.

    __dev_alloc_name provides me that functionality.

I posted a patch in http://lists.linux-wlan.com/pipermail/linux-wlan-devel/2008-January/003739.html which works fine for me but it probably needs review from someone qualified.

I have an Intersil Corp. Prism 2.x 802.11b Adapter USB. Here's the symptoms:

Hardy alpha 4, latest updates.
- Boot without problem, my USB mouse and mass storage work well.
- plug my usb wifi card, nothin is detected.
- lsusb freeze the terminal
- other USB devices don't work.

If I un-plug my wifi card, my USB ports are unusable. I must reboot to use a USB device again.

KRS, this has been fixed in the development tree, but is not released in a package yet. Please wait for the next release of linux-ubuntu-modules (in a few days, it has been said).
