Bug Description

Hello, I formerly had installed Ubuntu 18.04 with the same problem, my touchpad was detected as a generic PS2 mouse so I thought that if I upgraded my Ubuntu version (currently 18.10) my problem would be solved. I tried several fixes that I found on different forums with my previous version but they didn't work. I'm not an advanced user and I was looking forward to finally switch to linux but this is a big problem for me. I attached some files except cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log > Xorg.0.log

cat: /var/log/Xorg.0.log: No existe el archivo o el directorio (missing file or directory)

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.20 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thank you so much, it was as simple as adding GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset" on grub, updating and rebooting.

@flxren, I don't have the hardware so I didn't have a try on the viable solution. I thought it takes a dkms to fix? Could you also help comment some more detailed steps, so others' with the same hardware may have another reference?

Are both "i8042.nomux=1" "i8042.reset" required to make touchpad work, or just one of the parameter can make the touchpad work?
