Bug Description

Black screen on start up, restart with external HDD switched on.
Then get error message ACPI exception, Could not find /resolve named package element LNK
[20170831/dspkginit-381].
This has occurred since upgrading form Ubuntu16, was working fine before.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Still taking a very long time to boot up. gives a different acpi error messag.
THEN error message saying
lvmetad missing and scans system to find suitable.
any suggestions gratefully received.
