This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. While running an Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline or third-party kernel) please enter the following command in a terminal window:

apport-collect 1788686

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

Would it be possible for you to test the proposed kernel and post back if it resolves this bug?
See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed.

Joseph Salisbury (jsalisbury),

If you can direct me to an ISO download distribution containing your proposed kernel, then yes, I can test.

Else, out of luck, sorry.

The PC does not boot at all.

bellajohsan (bellajohsan),

I am booting from a USB key into RAM. That boot fails as per screenshots.

Power source and storage are immaterial.

This is not an Acer issue.

To all, could it be UEFI related? I tried to disable this in BIOS, but that option is not available.
