Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.18 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

The problem occurred after the kernel was automatically updated to version 4.16. This is not the first time when the kernel is updated, and I tried to reinstall bcmwl-kernel-sourse. It did not help, I tried other recipes on the net, but they also did not help.
On the previous kernels 4.15 4.13 everything worked, after updating and attempts to restore the work of the wifi, work only on version 4.4 of my installed.
With versions of the system above 4.16 there are complications they are not correctly installed due to the lack of the libssl1.1 module, with its installation there are problems.
The driver, on reinstallation, produces errors that can not be installed and there is no WL module
help me please

I'm having the same problem with my
Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)

Everything was fine, but after reboot, I had no wifi connections available. The wifi controller was present in lspci output, but not in ifconfig output. Hitting hardware buttons had no effect.

After booting into 4.13.0-45-generic kernel, everything returned to normal: wifi works as earlier.

I'm posting 'apport-bug linux --save' data here. It was collected when booted into 4.15.0-24 kernel.
