Bug Description

Running Ubuntu 18.04 on a Lenovo Ideapad 320. After suspending and resuming, the screen wakes up as a mass of large blocks (several pixels across). There is no recognizable pattern to these pixels, but they do have the Ubuntu color palette...

The computer is unresponsive to keyboard or mouse, and the only solution I currently have is to do a forced restart.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.18 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, installed kernel 4.18[0] rc3 and that seems to have fixed the problem so far.

With regards to your question about whether it was caused by a kernel update, I'm not sure: the computer is relatively new, and I first noticed the issue soon after getting it. If it's helpful, the kernel versions I went through during that time are: 4.15.0-20 - 4.15.0-23.
