Bug Description

[FEATURE] OpenCAPI enabling

OpenCAPI is an Open Interface Architecture that allows any microprocessor to attach to

  * Coherent user-level accelerators and I/O devices
  * Advanced memories accessible via read/write or user-level DMA semantics
  * Agnostic to processor architecture

This is a feature to enable OpenCapi on Ubuntu 18.04. This is planned to be included in 4.16 and it will need to be backported to 4.15:

The code for this feature is available in kernel 4.16-rc1, and we'd like to backport the following 13 patches for 18.04. They should apply cleanly on a 4.15 kernel:

6914c757118e powerpc/powernv: Add platform-specific services for opencapi
2cb3d64b2698 powerpc/powernv: Capture actag information for the device
5ef3166e8a32 ocxl: Driver code for 'generic' opencapi devices
aeddad1760ae ocxl: Add AFU interrupt support
280b983ce2b8 ocxl: Add a kernel API for other opencapi drivers
92add22e8478 ocxl: Add trace points

Today is the deadline for new feature submission and I don't see this driver code in the bionic tree. What's needed to make it happen?

Hi, Frederic.

It's fix committed, which means it's no the master-next branch of the bionic tree. The next release of 4.15 will have these patches. Can you confirm all of them are on the master-next branch?

Thank you.

Indeed, I can see the 13 patches on the master-next branch.
So it looks like we are in shape.
Great, thanks!

I've just realized with some help that the code for this feature is in the proposed kernel 4.15.0-12.13. Yet there was no update to this bug to notify. Does it look good? Am I expected to validate on that kernel version?

I've tested kernel 4.15.0-12.13 and the ocxl driver is working as expected
