Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Confirmed to be not working on upstream kernel v4.15!
My ethernet adapter also stops working on upstream kernel v4.15, but I guess that's another issue.

Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Thank you for putting in the good work kind sir :)

My mistake, it does' work on upstream kernel 4.15, although the ethernet adapter does break.

I am using 4.15.0-65-generic x86_64 and the reader is not working. I am getting

mmc0: error -110 whilst initialising SD card

message in dmesg. Which 4.15 kernel was working for anyone?

On bionic, you may also want to try linux-oem-osp1 package, which has kernel driver rtl841l identical to current mainline kernel.

I'm still experiencing this issue on kernel 5.4.0-51-generic. The driver is missing, and the reader fails to recognize some types of SD cards.

I tried installing linux-oem-osp1, nothing has improved.
