Sorry I can not test/ install the latest upstream kernel because of my wifi drivers. As you can see in order to test/ install the kernel version I have to disable, and uninstall proprietary drivers. My broadcom wireless drivers fall into that category.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:

Bug description:
  No matter the interface I choose Ubuntu 17.10 freezes/ crashes. Unity,
  Ubuntu (Gnome), Ubuntu (Gnome) with Xorg, Kodi, and SteamOS. I looked
  it up, and everybody has had this issue in the beta constantly. There
  was no fix, and it only seems to get worse. Most of the time it
  freezes after 20 minutes of running Ubuntu.
