Why does this error message appear? in other forums people mention that its referencing hardware that won't be supported sometime in future yet https://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/SENSORS_ATK0110.html shows it is supported in Linux Kernel 4.14

The message is now different:

kernel: (NULL device *): hwmon_device_register() is deprecated. Please convert the driver to use hwmon_device_register_with_info().

and a recent update has been proposed:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/drivers/hwmon/hwmon.c

maybe this can be applied before kernel upstream
