Surface Pro 4: Mouse doesn't respond to Type keyboard

While doing tests for bug 1652815 on my SP4, I noticed that if I used the mouse pad on the Type keyboard[1] - the mouse would not respond in X - if I plugged in an external mouse to the USB port - everything was fine.

Important to note: the keyboard doesn't work at all on 16.04, it does work with the linux-surface kernel in the https://launchpad.net/~tigerite/+archive/ubuntu/kernel PPA.

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. From a terminal window please run:

apport-collect 1662353

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.
