Bug Description

Hi, I am "nauticalnexus", I'd like to ask for AMDGPU support for CIK(Sea Islands, 390, 290, 290x, 390x, etc) cards in the standard and lowlatency linux kernel. There is no reason for it to be disabled. I've been using it for a long time on various different distributions and kernels and I've had no issues with it. I'd love to see it in the Ubuntu Linux kernel :) Thanks!

P.S: I was told to create a bug report for this, I originally asked this as a question.

I don't believe that logs would help here since it's just a flag in the kernel config.

Looks to be isolated to the specific chip identifiers. Firmware is now included in the linux-firmware package.

Will there be a fix for Xenial too?

Emily - The help text for this config option indicates it is still in the experimental/debug phase in v4.4, so I'm not too keen to enable that option in a stable LTS kernel. v4.10 still has the same text, but it is at least an elective install as an HWE kernel in Xenial. We still have some time to test Zesty.
