I'm using T440s with docking station with the same issue as in #1568573. I was trying to add info into bug #1568573, but a new bug was created. How do I cross post the debug info into that bug?

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.9 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I tested this with v4.9-rc8 and it work on that kernel.
That kernel does have another bug due. When I detach the computer the display doesn't revert back to one screen, alt+ctrl+F1 to another console and back to UI resolves this.

And yes this started in one of the recent kernels, I believe it was around 4.4.0-41.

After using it for a while I notices another bug.
Connecting to dock causes screen to split and monitor is started for a few seconds, but then turn off and only the laptop display is shown, but main desktop is on the other display.
