Bug Description

Greetings.

I just tried to install Ubuntu mate onto my HP X2 210 but no matter what i do it wont recognize any of my known good microSD's. The reader works just fine when running windows. All i see in dmesg is this:

[ 827.389608] mmc1: card never left busy state
[ 827.389637] mmc1: error -110 whilst initialising SD card
[ 829.477595] mmc1: card never left busy state
[ 829.477625] mmc1: error -110 whilst initialising SD card

More info about the laptop can be found here:

Thanks in advance for the help.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? This will help determine if the problem you are seeing is the result of a regression, and when this regression was introduced. If this is a regression, we can perform a kernel bisect to identify the commit that introduced the problem.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest 4.4 based upstream stable kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.4 stable kernel[0].

Thanks in advance.

This was taken from a live session, i wanted to install ubuntu on the SD card because the internal storage has windows on it and its too small for 2 OS. I tried the 16.04 LTS and it had this problem, then i tried one of the daily builds(the bug report came from that).

I can try to test it with the kernel you suggest, but unfortunately only tomorrow. Im working in night shift...

I just installed Kubuntu 16.10 on the internal emmc but the problem remained. I tried the 4.8.12 generic kernel but it didnt fixed the issue...
