If so uninstall it and update your kernel...

You may need to run the following from a terminal:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then re-install the package or updates.

If that does not resolve your issue, please mark the bug as "Confirmed"

After some days the problem disappeard 'by itself'. I did install various other programs, and at some pint in time this generic Ubuntu bug was solved.

Running the commands under #4 (from Joseph) showed that everything was ok.
