Bug Description

As of this morning's upgrade, I no longer have bluetooth audio. Both my audio headsets will connect, and they show up in the sound dialog box as options, but they cannot be selected as options, the dialog box that lets use choose between hsp or ad2p still says analog stereo, and if I test the sound, it comes from the speakers.

I am using ubuntu 16.04LTS with the 4.4.0-23-generic kernel. I am using Cinnamon 3.0 with Blueberry as my bluez frontend.

Does this issue go away if you boot back into the prior kernel version?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.6 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I tried using older kernels, no effect. My system wouldn't boot with the mainline kernel. What should I tag it. Also, how do I tag?

OK got the computer to boot with the mainline kernel. Not only does bluetooth audio not work, but now Cinnamon crashes on startup, and I've lost my dual head setup.

Definitely "'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'."

EvilWayz, to clarify, if you boot into the prior kernel 4.4.0-22 bluetooth functionality is restored?

EvilWayz, to keep this relevant to upstream, one will want to test the latest mainline kernel (now 4.8-rc3) as they are released.

Could you please advise?

I no longer use Cinnamon, I still use Blueberry, and it works with 4.7rc3. However, I must switch each pulseaudio stream manually to the bluetooth device after it has connected, it doesn't switch automatically.
