when setting vga=0x31b or vga=0x318 bootup parametr screen switch to target resolution, but nothing displeyd

Server installation of 7.10
When i put vga=0x31b, vga=0x318 or other vga=0xXXX into kernel boot parametr (menu.lst or press "e" a grub screen) screen swich to target resolution, but it stay black for all time. System bootup normaly. And all server system (dhcp, squid, samba) works perfecly.
