Bug Description

Hi,

In Ubuntu 15.04 I had around 7-8 hours of battery life but after upgrade I got half. Why? Maybe not the right package, but I don't know what else than the kernel. If wrong please change.

I use lmt for increased battery life, and it is still installed (even reinstalled and I also tried ltp instead, but no change).

Disabling intel p state turbo does no change. I dont really have any processes ruining it and it even says 4 hours after first boot.

The battery ost 5% just while I submitted this bug report.

Just after login battery indicator states 2.2 hours left. Now it says around 3-4 hours, but the percentage is really rushing down towards 0%.

I will let it run for a while and see.

Why did I have excellent battery life before upgrade if the BIOS would be the issue?
I've been trying to upgrade the BIOS since I bought it, but I can't.

The battery does seem to still have more battery life than stated by the indicator and acpi command. Used for aroung five hours now and 23% left. Turbo turned off and powersave governor. Maybe the bug is in the reading?

But why is the turbo mode enabled and the cpu running on full speed as default?

Also I'm no longer able to play HD video. Connected?

Nope. I just can't install the BIOS update without Windows, but: I don't have Windows. Nor do I have a optic drive.

I had to install Windows, then update BIOS. Now I have reinstalled Ubuntu 15.10 and the battery life is still around 3 hours.

Daniel Holm, if you boot into a 3.19.x kernel is this still reproducible?

I'll give a llive CD a go in a few days and see. But I have to say that the battery life actually do seem rather persistant if I turn of turbo boost, enable all powertop tunes and run in powersave. Tough the battery still always say around three hours.
